In 1991, David Anderson -- then a Motorola direct sales representative -- took advantage of an opportunity to become an independent reseller of Motorola two-way radio products. Selling out of the basement of his house, his territory was (what was then) the five-county Twin Cities metro area. Since that time, ANCOM Communications has matured into an award-winning Motorola Solutions Channel Partner, with a dedicated staff of nine sales professionals, selling into the greater Minnesota and western Wisconsin markets. ANCOM’s portfolio has expanded to include systems of various complexities -- from the simple base station with a few portable or mobile radios, to complete systems for public safety, manufacturing, transportation, utility, school, hospital, construction and retail markets.
ANCOM Communications is also a Motorola Platinum Channel Partner, with accreditation as a Manufacturer’s Representative and as a P25 Systems Elite Specialist. Our sales consultants believe in the basic concept that people communicate, not products. We will spend time with you to understand your specific needs. That consultative approach, based on selling solutions that will work for you, is the key to our success. Our motto is, “You talk. We listen”.
In 1999, we realized we needed to add a service component to our sales organization in order to more comprehensively manage the growing needs and requirements of our customers. ANCOM acquired a small, three-man repair shop that serviced the western and southern Twin Cities area, and ANCOM Technical Center (ATC) was born. Today, that service organization has 11 technicians, including several who are certified in Motorola R56, Site and Equipment Grounding, Project Management, System Engineering, ARMER Public Safety System Administration, as well as WISCOM radio programming for our Wisconsin public safety customers.
ANCOM Technical Center invests back into our technical staff, not only in training for the above certifications, but also in requiring our technicians earn their Certified Electronics Technician status with ETA International. As a company, ATC has earned ETA recognition as a Certified Service Center. ATC has also achieved the status of a Motorola Service Elite Specialist, the highest service facility designation Motorola can bestow on a service facility, and the only one in the greater Twin Cities area.
These are just some of the value-added capabilities of our service shop. Our installation and service technicians are career professionals in the two-way radio field, and are well-trained to meet your communications needs, at your location or at ours.

RF Grid Testing & Grid Reporting
Grid testing for Emergency Responder Radio Coverage (ERCES) is law required by most AHJs and also covered in IFC 510, NFPA 1221 and by NFPA 72, to ensure adequate signal coverage throughout a building.
Every system needs periodic maintenance or repairs to ensure the system is available and reliable when users need it most.
